Airdrie FEST | 2018 Park Bench Painting Project

I was asked to participate in Airdrie’s public art program as a way to honour Canada's 150th anniversary. Colour is a natural representation of freedom and taking changes. I wanted to remind others of the commitment we make to guiding the life traveler inside each of us.

Coming from Mexico, colourful living is standard practice, a way of freeing oneself, and I think that is what I was meant to bring to Canada. I want to show people what it means to create freely together and with bold colours and nurture the next group of magic colour makers.

There was a total of 30 benches, one for each of the residential communities in Airdire. It was a contemporary art placemaking & destination initiative, with a single objective: Give people a place to sit down that’s creative!
